This is a 6 month contract

This position reports to the Manager, Project Accounting and provides support to Project Managers throughout the financial lifecycle of projects ensuring accurate, timely and complete information for all accounting activities from project set-up, cost recording, revenue recognition, project forecasting and project closure for Coreaqua/Fer-Pal’s Canadian and US business entities.

Role and Responsibilities

- Provide project accounting support and oversight on a portfolio of projects with multiple Project Managers. Review proper allocation of all costs and expenses to projects, and perform re-allocations as needed.
- Attend regular meetings with Project managers and Project coordinators on the financial status of projects. Ensure timely project reviews are performed, in preparation for month-end close. Review estimates at completion for both revenue and cost, for proper revenue recognition at month-end.
- Accurately reflect the financial status of projects by ensuring timely recording of all cost and revenue transactions. Coordinate and review with other team members who enter the transactions.
- Ensure project is setup in the ERP and updated on a regular basis including capturing change orders and PO’s. Review contract documents, client POs and backup documentation to ensure compliance with audit and internal controls.
- Assist the Project Accounting manager with project related reserves as required (i.e. Estimate at Completion adjustments, Accounts Receivable, Work in Progress, Legal claims) and proformas.
- Perform month end close accrual entries and adjustments as required.




- Review monthly invoices provided by the PMs for accuracy, and record billings in the ERP. Record cash receipts as they come.
- Possess strong understanding of revenue and costing methodologies and provide expertise to the Project team.
- Train and educate project managers on the use of the ERP, to import and update required data for reporting.
- Assist with external and internal project audit requirements. Perform and support project-related control procedures.
- Prepare ad hoc project related financial reports from time to time as requested.
- Prepare US Sales Tax working files
- Revenue, Expense, Work in Progress, Deferred Revenue and Accounts Receivable reconciliations

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Minimum one to three years of project accounting experience in construction industry.
- Post secondary education in Finance or Accounting
- CPA Financial designation in progress
- Ability to correctly identify financial situations and produce logical solutions to support the project team
- Demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and analytical skills as well as a keen willingness to work independently
- Working knowledge of Viewpoint and Spreadsheet Server software an asset
- Excellent numerical, verbal and written communication skills, with keen attention to details
- Able to prioritize and thrives in a high-volume workload and quick paced environment
- Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all members of Coreaqua/Fer-Pal team
- Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Excel
