Senior IT Project Manager – Insurance A global insurance organization based in Toronto is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead multiple initiatives within a multi-year technology roadmap. The organization’s core insurance solution is custom-built and supports critical business operations.

The successful candidate will manage multiple projects and critical production-support initiatives in parallel. This role requires strong insurance-domain knowledge, excellent stakeholder-management skills, and the ability to coordinate business, technology, vendor, and leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage multiple complex IT projects and critical run initiatives concurrently.
- Lead projects through initiation, planning, execution, implementation, transition, and closure.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, RAID logs, status reports, and governance documentation.
- Work closely with insurance business stakeholders, technology teams, architects, vendors, and senior leadership.
- Facilitate project meetings, status reviews, steering committee meetings, and decision-making sessions.
- Communicate technical concepts, project status, risks, issues, and dependencies clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, cross-project dependencies, resource constraints, and competing priorities.
- Coordinate the delivery of enhancements and production-support initiatives for a custom-built insurance platform.
- Manage third-party vendors and implementation partners, ensuring that deliverables meet agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Support release planning, testing, production implementation, operational readiness, and transition to support teams.
- Build and lead collaborative, accountable,



and high-performing project teams.
- Ensure projects comply with organizational governance, security, architecture, risk, and audit requirements.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical discipline, business, project management, or a related field. Equivalent education and relevant work experience will also be considered.
- At least 8 years of experience managing IT projects, preferably within the insurance industry.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and workstreams in parallel.
- Strong insurance-domain experience and an understanding of insurance business processes and technology solutions.
- Proven stakeholder-management experience, including working with senior executives, business leaders, technology teams, vendors, and operational teams.
- Experience managing projects involving custom-built enterprise applications and business-critical production systems.
- Working knowledge of technologies such as Java, SQL databases, APIs, digital platforms, cloud technologies, and document-management solutions.
- Experience with OpenText or a comparable enterprise document-management platform is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience building and supporting empowered, team-oriented, and high-performing teams.
- Experience working with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project-delivery methodologies.
- PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum, or a comparable project-management certification is an asset.

Job Type: Fixed term contract Pay: $60.00-$75.00 per hour
