Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and proactive Quality Assurance & Food Safety Specialist to join our growing team at Vision Greens. In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving our Quality Management System (QMS) while ensuring the highest standards of food safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance throughout our operation.

The successful candidate will play a key role in reviewing and improving existing quality procedures, developing recent documentation where required, conducting routine quality inspections, maintaining audit readiness, and promoting a strong food safety culture across the organization.

This position is responsible for maintaining product quality throughout the entire process—from incoming materials and growing operations to harvesting, packaging, storage, and shipment—while driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

Responsibilities:-

Quality Management System (QMS)

- Review existing Quality Assurance procedures, SOPs, work instructions, and forms to ensure they remain practical, effective, and compliant.
- Revise and update existing procedures as required to improve operational efficiency and maintain audit readiness.
- Develop new quality procedures, work instructions, inspection forms, and records where gaps exist.
- Maintain document control and ensure all quality documentation is current and properly managed.
- Support continuous improvement of the company's Quality Management System.

Quality Assurance & Product Monitoring

- Monitor product quality throughout the entire production process, from incoming raw materials to finished packaged products.
- Conduct routine quality inspections of incoming materials, growing operations, harvesting, packaging, storage, and shipping.
- Review the quality of crops grown in-house and work closely with the Growing team to improve product consistency, yield, and shelf life.




- Verify compliance with customer specifications and internal quality standards.
- Monitor product defects, trim loss, waste, and product yields, and recommend improvements to reduce losses.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports summarizing product performance, trends, and corrective actions.
- Investigate customer complaints, supplier quality concerns, and internal quality issues, and prepare detailed investigation reports.
- Ensure all non-conforming products are properly identified, documented, and dispositioned.

Food Safety & GMP

- Promote and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) throughout the facility.
- Conduct routine GMP inspections and food safety audits.
- Monitor employee compliance with hygiene, sanitation, and food safety requirements.
- Support Food Defence, Food Fraud, and Preventive Control programs.
- Participate in environmental monitoring, ATP verification, and sanitation verification activities.

Documentation & Compliance

- Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, environmental monitoring records, sanitation records, and traceability documentation.
- Ensure all production and quality records are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain supplier specifications, Certificates of Analysis (COAs), Certificates of Compliance (COCs), and customer specifications.
- Support preparation for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, including CanadaGAP, GFSI-recognized standards, and customer audits.

Investigations & Continuous Improvement

- Investigate quality issues using Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
- Develop, implement, and verify Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).




- Monitor quality trends and recommend process improvements to reduce product waste, improve quality, and increase operational efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects across Production, Growing, Packaging, and Sanitation departments.

Traceability & Supplier Quality

- Maintain complete product traceability from incoming materials (including seeds, growing media, nutrients, packaging materials, and other inputs) through growing, harvesting, packaging, and finished goods.
- Conduct mock recalls and traceability exercises.
- Review supplier quality documentation and assist with supplier qualification and ongoing supplier performance evaluations.
- Initiate supplier quality investigations when incoming materials fail to meet specifications.

Training & Cross-Functional Support

- Deliver GMP, food safety, hygiene, and quality-related training to employees.
- Support Production, Growing, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Sanitation teams in resolving quality issues.
- Promote a culture of food safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence throughout the facility.

Qualifications

- Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of Quality Assurance experience in food manufacturing, fresh produce, agriculture, or CPG manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of GMPs, HACCP, Preventive Controls, and Quality Management Systems.
- Experience preparing facilities for customer and third-party audits.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Experience conducting inspections, audits, and root cause investigations.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments.

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
