General

Following Montessori philosophy. Give appropriate lessons to children, relative to the age/level of the child. Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and being a positive role model for behavior in the classroom.

Provide a quality caring and supportive Montessori child care program to members of the Blaisdale Montessori School community that addresses their unique child care needs. Meet all regulatory standards required by the CCEYA and Blaisdale Montessori School’s program statement and Policies and procedures.

Plan, carry out, and assess developmentally appropriate activities and experiences in harmony with the Blaisdale’s philosophy ·

Provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities ·

Establish and carry out a daily activity schedule that incorporates child directed activity, care routines and transition times

Assist children in expressing themselves by listening and responding with questions or comments that extend conversations ·

Use Montessori teaching techniques including modelling, observing, demonstrating, and reinforcing ·

Encourage and assist children to practice self help ·

Plan and carry out activities that encourage problem solving ·

Provide experiences and play materials that actively promote diversity and acceptance in interactions and attitudes

Ensure guidance of children’s behaviour that encourages positive self-concept · Set reasonable behaviour expectations consistent with center’s philosophy and policies ·





Provide positive guidelines such as redirecting, positive language, and positive reinforcement · Immediately address problem behaviour without labelling the child ·

Follow behaviour guidance and policies established by the School and consistent with accepted practice in the field

Ensure the child’s environment is healthy and safe ·

Carry out the responsibilities assigned to you · Attend required staff meetings · Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the School’s children, their parents, and staff · Maintain regular attendance and punctuality Maintain a positive working relationship with other Blaisdale Montessori School staff

Maintenance of the class and children’s areas, cleaning of community areas when required. Ensure that the building, materials and playground are clean, safe and maintained.

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children. Follow the direction of the Administrator.

Model and facilitate positive techniques for conflict resolution. Adhere to a policy of confidentiality and respect regarding issues with students, the school families and other staff members.





May be requested to assist in hot lunch duties and assist in another class; Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children; Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours

Pre-requisite

MACTE Montessori training or RECE (or equivalent). MACTE Montessori training preferred. CPR level C/ Standard First Aid certified, Criminal Reference check with the Vulnerable Sector Bondable and valid up to date immunization record.

Demonstrate the ability to plan and implement group activities with Principal or Supervisors approval. *; The applicant should also be a Self-starter who takes initiative to add to the classroom, Warm, caring individual who loves children, Desire to work in a school setting and contribute to a collaborative, team philosophy, responsible, patient, must have good classroom management skills.

Work as team players with the all Blaisdale Montessori School employees and families of the school. Willingness to step into another class if requested or in emergency or unforeseeable circumstances.
