SUMMARY The Recruitment Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the full-cycle recruitment function for Erb Transport Limited. This role develops and executes recruitment strategies that attract, engage, and hire top talent while ensuring recruitment activities align with the organization's operational requirements, growth objectives, and employment equity commitments.
The Recruitment Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership to the Recruitment team, establishes recruitment priorities, monitors performance metrics, continuously improves recruitment processes, and partners with business leaders to deliver exceptional hiring outcomes across all Canadian operations
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment Strategy & Workforce Planning
Develop and execute recruitment strategies that support organizational growth and workforce planning initiatives across all terminals.
Partner with operational leaders to understand current and future staffing requirements and proactively develop talent pipelines.
Monitor labour market trends, competitor hiring practices, and recruitment analytics to recommend improvements to recruitment strategies.
Develop innovative sourcing initiatives for difficult-to-fill positions, including drivers, technicians, and skilled trades.
Support the organization's Employment Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, and accessibility objectives throughout the recruitment process.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, coach, and develop the Recruitment team to ensure high levels of performance, service delivery, and accountability.
Establish team objectives, monitor workloads, and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and development planning.
Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture committed to continuous improvement.
Ensure appropriate workload distribution and vacation coverage while maintaining service levels.
Provide training and ongoing support to hiring managers on recruitment processes, interviewing best practices, and the effective use of recruitment systems.
Recruitment Operations
Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process from requisition approval through onboarding.
Ensure recruitment activities are completed efficiently while delivering an exceptional candidate and hiring manager experience.
Provide guidance and support on complex recruitment initiatives and executive-level searches.
Assist recruiters during periods of high recruitment volume and provide operational support as required.
Participate in interviews for key leadership and specialized positions.
Process Improvement & Compliance
Develop, implement, and continuously improve recruitment policies, procedures, templates, and standard operating procedures.
Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation, the Canada Labour Code, Employment Equity Act, human rights legislation, privacy requirements, and company policies.
Lead the implementation of new recruitment initiatives, Dayforce Talent Acquisition modules, system enhancements, and process improvements, including testing, training, and change management.
Ensure recruitment documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with company standards.
Partner with HR, Payroll, Safety, and Operations to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for new hires.
Recruitment Analytics & Reporting
Develop and monitor recruitment KPIs and service level expectations.
Analyze recruitment metrics including:
Time-to-fill
Time-to-hire
Cost-per-hire
Source effectiveness
Candidate pipeline health
Offer acceptance rates
Vacancy aging
Quality of hire
Present regular recruitment reports and recommendations to HR leadership.
Identify trends and implement action plans to improve recruitment performance.
Employer Branding & Talent Attraction
Collaborate with Communications & Marketing to strengthen Erb's employer brand.
Develop recruitment marketing campaigns, social media initiatives, career fairs, referral programs, and community partnerships.
Build relationships with colleges, universities, employment agencies, industry associations, military transition programs, and community organizations.
Represent Erb at recruitment events, networking functions, and industry conferences.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
Monitor recruitment-related expenditures and advertising budgets.
Review recruitment vendor performance and recommend improvements.
Manage relationships with external recruitment agencies, advertising providers, and assessment vendors.
Approve recruitment-related invoices and ensure expenditures remain within budget.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Minimum five (5) years of progressive recruitment experience.
Minimum three (3) years of leadership or supervisory experience.
Experience leading high-volume and skilled recruitment initiatives.
Experience developing recruitment strategies and reporting on recruitment metrics.
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of full-cycle recruitment and workforce planning.
Knowledge of federal and provincial employment legislation.
Understanding of Employment Equity, Human Rights, Accessibility, and privacy legislation.
Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Office.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset.
Recruitment experience within transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or other operational environments.
Experience recruiting commercial drivers, mechanics, trades, and operational leadership positions.
Knowledge of Driver Qualification Files, DOT requirements, and transportation industry recruitment practices is considered an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Fulltime Salaried position, working 45 hours per week.
Primarily office-based with regular computer and desk work.
Occasional travel to other company locations or for Recruiting events as required.
