Position Purpose / Summary:
The Regional Managing Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the region's clinical, operational, and sales functions. This role requires the integration of clinical expertise with business development initiatives to support the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of health-related products and services.
The Regional
Director will serve as the primary liaison between the region and the Executive Team at the Global Head Office, ensuring that regional goals align with the broader organizational objectives.
In the beginning, the role will have a highly entrepreneurial component. More specific, the Canadian operations will have to be planned and set up. This includes opening Canadian sites, setting up technical workshops, adapting sales / service / education processes to the Canadian market, building smooth logistics and operations processes, ensuring the IT infrastructure fits the Canadian business and coordinating regulatory submission processes while at the same time building sales interest and momentum.
All workstreams will need local planning / supervision and the set-up of a strong team.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement regional strategies to drive business growth and clinical excellence.
- Ensure alignment of regional activities with corporate objectives and values.
- Represent the organization in regional strategic forums, healthcare industry events, and regulatory engagements.
Operational and Business Management:
- Oversee regional operations including workforce planning, financial management, and resource allocation.
- Monitor and report on regional performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Lead regional business planning processes and contribute to national operational strategies.
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and service improvement.
Sales Management:
- Drive regional sales initiatives to achieve revenue targets and market share objectives.
- Manage key client relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the healthcare sector.
- Collaborate with Product Management teams to support product development, marketing strategies, and customer feedback loops.
Clinical Education and Quality Assurance:
- Deliver and oversee the provision of clinical education and product training to internal staff and external clients.
- Maintain a high standard of clinical governance across all regional activities.
- Monitor compliance with clinical quality assurance policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on clinical best practices, product use, and client support.
People Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary regional team.
- Foster a positive, high-performance culture that emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and continuous development.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and professional development planning for direct reports.
Reporting and Compliance:
- Provide regular updates, strategic insights, and reports to the Executive Team.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, internal policies, and industry standards.
- Stay current with changes in healthcare regulation, clinical practices, and product-related legislation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in healthcare sales, business development, and regional management.
- Clinical experience, particularly in critical care or high-acuity settings.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical education and quality assurance.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks for healthcare products.
- Product management experience highly desirable.
- Experience in management of medical equipment maintenance and repair to the relevant regional standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinking and ability to drive operational excellence.
Desirable Attributes:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Business, Health Administration, or Education.
- Experience working across both public and private healthcare sectors.
- Familiarity with regulatory bodies and procurement processes.
