Contract (12 or 18 months)

37.5 HOURS/WEEK

Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes is seeking a qualified Registered Dietitian to join our dynamic team on a temporary maternity leave contract of approximately 12 to 18 months. In this role, you will help ensure our clients receive individualized dietary treatment, nutrition counselling, and support with nutritious meal planning and weight management.

Registered Dietitians are a key part of our client care model and are encouraged to work to their full scope of practice while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

As a Registered Dietitian with our team, in collaboration with the primary care team and an inter-professional team, you will:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments using evidence-based practices.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate individualized nutrition care plans.
- Provide nutrition counselling, health education, and behaviour change support to individuals and groups.
- Deliver nutrition education workshops, presentations, and community outreach initiatives.
- Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate client care.
- Document assessments, interventions, and client outcomes accurately in electronic health records.
- Monitor client progress and modify nutrition care plans as needed.
- Develop and maintain current nutrition education resources for clients, staff, and community partners.
- Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with community agencies, healthcare organizations, and stakeholders to support integrated client care, promote health initiatives, and strengthen community nutrition services.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, program planning, and evaluation.
- Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and organizational policies.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and organizational committees.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing education and evidence-informed practice.

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION





- Registered Dietitian in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
- Membership with Dietitians of Canada preferred
- Robust knowledge of medical nutrition therapy, chronic disease management, and health promotion.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.
- Experience facilitating group education and community outreach programs.
- Knowledge of culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches.
- Experience working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary community health or primary care setting is preferred.
- Passion for making a difference in your community
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Clear vulnerable sector screening and COVID vaccination are mandatory requirements

COMPENSATION: The wage range for this exciting opportunity is $39.09 – $42.80 per hour. Selected candidates will be appropriately placed on the organizations wage grid based on skill, knowledge and experience.*
