Welcome to Splatsin. Our magnificent territory stretches from the B.C./Alberta border near the Yellowhead Pass to the plateau west of the Fraser River, southeast to the Arrow Lakes and to the upper reaches of the Columbia River. The Splatsin are the southernmost tribe of the Secwépemc Nation, the largest Interior Salish speaking First Nation in Canada.

Position Purpose:

The Registered Nurse, Community Health and Mental Wellness provides comprehensive, community-based nursing services to Splatsin members across the lifespan. The position supports the existing Community Health Nurse by increasing clinical capacity, improving continuity of care, strengthening home and community follow-up, and providing integrated physical-health, mental-wellness, substance-use, and psychosocial nursing support.

The RN assesses health needs, develops, and evaluates nursing care plans, provides direct nursing interventions, coordinates services, supports public-health programming, promotes health and wellness, provides client and family education, and assists members in navigating provincial, federal, First Nations and community health systems.

Position Requirements:

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent nursing degree from a recognized institution.




- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Registration in good standing without restrictions that would prevent performance of the position.
- Current Basic Life Support or equivalent employer-approved resuscitation certification.
- A minimum of two-three years of recent nursing experience relevant to community health, public health, primary care, home and community care, mental health, substance use or a combination of these areas.
- Demonstrated experience completing comprehensive nursing assessments and care plans.
- Demonstrated competence in mental-health and psychosocial assessment.
- Experience responding to urgent clinical and behavioral-health situations.
- Experience with medication administration and monitoring.
- Experience working within an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience with clinical documentation and confidential health records.
- Demonstrated commitment to Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, and anti-racist practice.
- Ability to travel within the community and to approved regional locations.
- A valid British Columbia Class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract unless an approved accommodation applies.
- Satisfactory criminal-record and vulnerable-sector screening.
- Ability to meet occupational-health and infection-prevention requirements applicable to the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Current registration as RN.
- Experience working in a First Nations community or First Nations-led health organization.
- Public-health or community-health nursing education.
- Formal education or certification in mental-health and substance-use nursing.
- Experience in psychiatric, crisis, withdrawal-management,



community mental-health or concurrent-disorders services.
- Experience in maternal-child, school, immunization, or communicable-disease programming.
- Experience with harm reduction and substance-use treatment.
- Experience supporting accreditation or clinical quality improvement.
- Experience supervising, mentoring or clinically supporting other staff.
- Knowledge of Secwépemc communities, history, and health priorities.
- Familiarity with FNHA, Interior Health and regional health and social-service systems.
- Experience with electronic medical records and health-data reporting.

Additional Requirements:

- Current BC driver’s license.
- Clean Criminal Record

Job Types: Full-time, Monday – Friday (8:30am – 4:30pm) Accepting application Deadline: Until position is filled.

Pay: $41.00-$59.46 per hour
