The Saskatchewan Prevention Institute is seeking a full-time (1 FTE) Research and Evaluation Specialist (CORE and FASD Prevention Program). The position is available September 21, 2026.

Specific Accountabilities

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Specialist is specifically accountable for:

· Network with community and research organizations on local, provincial, and national levels to investigate and collaborate on issues of mutual benefit.

· Represent the Prevention Institute on interagency committees dealing with prevention initiatives on a provincial or national level, as required.

· Provide support for the operationalization, implementation, and reporting of strategic plan activities.

· Conduct research activities, such as completing evidence summaries, literature reviews, and environmental scans.

· Review current evidence in program areas (i.e., FASD Prevention) and ensure up-to-date best evidence and promising practices are reflected in the program, trainings, and resources.





· Collaborate with Institute staff and external stakeholders to ensure emerging and persistent needs related to child health in Saskatchewan are identified and researched.

· Conduct the completion of evaluation activities, such as needs assessments, surveys, interviews, and focus testing.

· Support consultation with diverse stakeholders to identify educational, resource, and training needs.

· Support and promote the involvement of external experts and target audience members in the review of resources and other materials.

· Participate in the quality assurance process to ensure research and evidence is appropriately translated and presented to the target audience.

· Contribute to the development and submission of funding proposals.

· Bring forward new trends and areas of focus that fit within the Institute’s mandate.

· Understand and implement best practices for research and evaluation activities, as applicable to the mandate of the Institute and the objectives of the FASD Prevention Program.

· Understand and implement the principles of harm reduction, health equity, reconciliation, strength-based approaches, and trauma-informed practices.

· Awareness and sensitivity of diverse populations in Saskatchewan, including the ongoing impacts of colonization on the health of Indigenous Peoples.

· Awareness of plain language principles.

· Pursue continuous learning to increase expertise and relevant skills.

Required Qualifications and Experience A university degree is required, preferably a master’s degree with a focus on research and evaluation, e.g., public health or psychology. University degrees in other fields will be considered with 3+ years of experience in a relevant sector (e.g., health, education, justice, or social services).

Willingness and ability to travel throughout the province to meet program objectives, including having a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license.

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

· experience conducting program and/or project evaluations

· experience working with and leading advisory committees

· experience conducting knowledge exchange activities, such as literature review, expert consultations, environmental scans, development of resources

Salary Range The salary range for this position is 55,000 – 60,000 with the starting salary dependent on experience and qualifications.
