Position Summary The Responsible Adult (RA) is responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for school-age children attending the Dynamic Kids in Motion After School Program. The RA plans and leads age-appropriate activities, promotes positive relationships, ensures children's safety, and creates an environment where children can learn, play, and grow.

Dynamic Kids in Motion is a faith-based childcare centre that values kindness, respect, movement, creativity, and child-led learning.

Key Responsibilities Child Supervision

- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
- Maintain appropriate supervision and comply with BC Child Care Licensing Regulations.
- Conduct regular attendance checks and ensure all children are accounted for during transitions.
- Respond appropriately to injuries, illnesses, and emergencies.

Program Planning

- Plan and lead engaging after-school activities for children ages 5–12.
- Organize games, sports, crafts, STEM activities, outdoor play, and creative projects.
- Encourage teamwork, leadership, independence, and problem-solving.
- Support homework time when required.
- Adapt activities to meet the interests and developmental needs of children.

Behaviour Guidance

- Promote positive behaviour using respectful and encouraging guidance techniques.
- Foster an inclusive environment where every child feels welcome, safe, and valued.
- Help children resolve conflicts through positive communication and problem-solving.

Health & Safety

- Follow all licensing regulations and Dynamic Kids in Motion policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program environment.




- Conduct daily safety checks of program areas and equipment.
- Follow emergency procedures, including evacuation and lockdown protocols.

Communication & Teamwork

- Build positive relationships with children, families, coworkers, and school staff.
- Communicate professionally with parents during drop-off and pick-up.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
- Report incidents, concerns, and behavioural issues to the Centre Manager.

Qualifications

- Meets BC Child Care Licensing qualifications for a Responsible Adult.
- Valid Emergency Child Care First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain before employment).
- Current Criminal Record Check with clearance to work with children.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a positive team approach.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with school-age children in childcare, recreation, camps, or education.
- Experience planning recreational and educational activities.
- Food Secure Level 1 certification (asset).
- Class 4 Driver's Licence (asset, if transportation is required).

Physical Requirements

- Actively participate in games and recreational activities.
- Lift up to 20 kg when necessary.
- Bend, kneel, squat, and move quickly to supervise children.
- Work indoors and outdoors throughout the year.

Working Hours Typical shifts are Monday through Friday during the school year:

- Approximately 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 am and 2 pm - 5.15 pm
- Additional hours may be available on professional development days, school breaks, and summer programs.
