Position : RHEL Migration Engineer

Location : Toronto, ON – Hybrid

JD Summary – RHEL Migration Engineer (RHEL 9 Upgrade)

We are seeking an experienced RHEL Migration Engineer to support large-scale Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 upgrade and migration initiatives across enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Linux administration, OS upgrade planning and execution, middleware compatibility validation, and automation-driven migration activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, coordinate, and execute RHEL 8 to RHEL 9 upgrade and migration activities, including system assessment, compatibility analysis, patching, testing, and production cutover.
- Perform pre- and post-upgrade validation to ensure application stability, performance, and compliance with enterprise standards.
- Validate and troubleshoot middleware platforms such as WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat, JBoss, and Apache HTTP Server for OS upgrade compatibility, configuration changes, and issue remediation.
- Develop and utilize automation solutions using Shell Scripting, Python,



and Ansible to streamline upgrade, validation, rollback, and reporting processes.
- Work closely with infrastructure, application, middleware, and security teams to resolve migration-related issues and ensure successful deployment.
- Document migration procedures, upgrade runbooks, rollback plans, and operational handover artifacts.
- Support troubleshooting, performance tuning, and risk mitigation throughout the migration lifecycle.

Required Skills :

- Solid hands-on experience in RHEL 8/9 administration, migration, and upgrade execution.
- Expertise in enterprise middleware administration and compatibility validation.
- Proficiency in Shell Scripting, Python, and Ansible automation.
- Experience with enterprise change management, patch management, and production support processes.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
