Overview:

Foxglove Nursery is a wholesale nursery located in idyllic southeast Kelowna. Our arid, protected valley is ideal for growing quality nursery stock. We specialize in growing pot-in-pot caliper trees, hardy shrubs, perennials, grasses and evergreens for the local landscape and garden centre industry.

Job Summary:

The Seasonal Nursery Worker assists with various tasks involved in the cultivation, maintenance, and care of plants, shrubs and trees during peak seasons. This role is temporary, with responsibilities varying based on the needs of the nursery and the season.

Key Responsibilities:

Plant/Tree Care and Maintenance:

Assist with planting, watering, fertilizing, potting and pruning of plants, shrubs and trees; Monitor plant health and report any signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies; Transplant seedlings or mature plants as needed.

Nursery Maintenance and Operations:

Perform routine maintenance of the nursery grounds, including weeding, pruning, mulching, and soil preparation; Operate and maintain nursery tools and equipment, such as potting machine, irrigation systems, hand tools, and machinery; Assist with loading and unloading plants and materials for distribution.

Inventory Management

Assist in tracking inventory levels of plants, soil, fertilizers, and other supplies; Help with restocking and organizing nursery inventory; label and maintain accurate records of plant types and quantities.

Compliance and Safety:





Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment; Ensure compliance with nursery policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred; coursework or certification in horticulture or related field is an asset.

Experience: Previous experience in horticulture, nursery or greenhouse is an asset

Working Conditions:

Environment: Work is primarily performed in a greenhouse or outdoor nursery setting, with exposure to varying weather conditions.

Hours: Full-time/Seasonal, 7AM to 3:30PM Monday to Friday

Skills:

- Basic knowledge of plant care and nursery operations is beneficial.
- Ability to operate basic nursery tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor tasks.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Class 5 Driver’s License preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Capacity to work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity to handle delicate plants without causing damage.
