About This Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant plays a critical role in the day-to-day financial management of the organization. This position is responsible for owning the full-cycle accounting process across multiple entities and development projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of independence while partnering closely with development, operations, lenders, auditors, and external advisors.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Cycle Month-End Accounting

· Own the month-end close process for assigned entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting

· Analyze financial results and investigate unusual variances or trends

· Review complex accounting transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatment

· Prepare complex reconciliations and resolve historical or unusual reconciling items

· Ensure compliance with company accounting policies





· Review intercompany transactions and ensure balances reconcile across entities

Accounts Payable

· Process vendor invoices and ensure proper coding to projects and entities

· Manage payment runs and ensure timely vendor payments

· Maintain vendor records and supporting documentation

· Coordinate with development and operations teams to obtain invoice approvals

· Monitor AP aging and identify opportunities to improve cash management

Records & Process Management

· Support compliance requirements through proper documentation

· Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedure documentation

· Recommend and implement improvements to accounting workflows and internal controls

· Support implementation of new accounting systems and process automation initiatives

· Ensure accounting documentation is audit-ready throughout the year

Financial Reporting

· Preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules

· Assist in preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections

· Complete regulatory and compliance reporting requirements (GST, corporate filings, etc.)

· Analyze operating results and provide meaningful variance explanations

· Ensure reporting deadlines are met, and information is accurate and complete

Draw Preparation

· Assist in the preparation of lender and equity draw packages

· Compile supporting documentation (invoices, contracts, and cost summaries)

· Track project costs and ensuring alignment with approved budgets

· Coordinate with development and project teams to gather required draw information





· Maintain draw tracking schedules and ensure timely submission to lenders

· Support ongoing monitoring of project funding and cost allocations

What You Bring

- CPA designation (or completion of CPA program) required
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within real estate development, construction, or property management.
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements independently
- Strong understanding of project accounting, development financing, and multi-entity accounting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including PivotTables, and complex financial models considered an asset.Experience with full-cycle accounting and month-end close

Pay: $70,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
