Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a senior electrical leader who can guide projects from concept through commissioning, mentor developing professionals, and contribute to a collaborative culture where sound engineering judgement and bold ideas are both valued.

The opportunity In this role, you will lead industrial electrical design and project delivery while helping strengthen PE Tech’s electrical practice. You will work directly with clients, project managers, suppliers, contractors, engineers, and technologists to deliver protected, practical, and high-quality solutions for operating facilities.

What you'll do

- Plan and design new electrical installations and modifications to existing industrial systems.
- Prepare electrical engineering and design deliverables, including single-line diagrams; power distribution and process-control documentation; PLC, HMI, and instrumentation designs; equipment and cable-tray layouts; schematics; wiring diagrams; and related specifications.
- Lead, supervise, and support the electrical team, including mentoring junior engineers and technologists and reviewing technical work.
- Manage electrical projects, coordinating scope, schedule, technical quality, and communication across project stakeholders.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and project managers, and provide technical support to contractors during construction and commissioning.
- Apply relevant Canadian codes, standards, regulations,



and industry practices to produce safe and constructible designs.

What you bring

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience in industrial environments; pulp and paper experience is strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of project management experience, with demonstrated ownership of complex engineering work.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia, or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian electrical codes, standards, governing regulations, and industrial practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD; experience with 3D modelling in AutoCAD 3D or Revit is an asset.
- Clear technical writing, communication, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
- A self-directed, collaborative approach and the confidence to make sound technical decisions.

Additional assets

- Knowledge of pulp and paper processes.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in the United States.
- Experience delivering brownfield upgrades in operating industrial facilities.

Position details

- Full-time position based in Nanaimo, BC. Candidates must be able to commute to the office or be willing to relocate.
- Travel may be required up to 10% of the time, primarily within British Columbia and Alberta, with occasional travel elsewhere in Canada or the United States.
- Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Annual salary range: $130,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
