The Department of Fine Arts invites applications for Sessional Instructors to teach undergraduate, introductory courses in technical theatre and theatrical design during the 2026-2027 academic year. We are seeking instructors for Fundamentals and Practice of Technical Theatre (Drama 276/Fall 2026) and Fundamentals and Practice of Theatrical Design (Drama 286/Winter 2027). Applications will be accepted from candidates qualified to teach one or both of these courses.

Responsibilities Reporting to the Dean, Arts, the Sessional Instructor’s responsibilities include:
- teaching assigned undergraduate Technical Theatre and/or Fundamentals of Design
- develop and deliver engaging, student-centred instruction,
- coordinate in collaboration with the Department Technical Director work integrated learning opportunities
- assess student performance and provide timely feedback,
- maintain accurate records and submit final grades according to university policies,
- participate in departmental meetings and course coordination activities as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Technical Theatre or Theatre Design
- Demonstration of progressive equivalent experience may be considered.
- For Drama 276 experience in all aspects of technical theatre including light, sound, set construction and production management
- For Drama 286 experience in set, costume, lighting, and sound design
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or strong potential for high-quality undergraduate instruction.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in an academic environment.
- Willingness and ability to take on academic administrative duties.
- Prior teaching experience is preferred.
