Shift Supervisor

Work Location: Museum of Illusions Edmonton*(West Edmonton Mall)*

Employment Type: Part-Time (20–25 hours per week, subject to operational needs; must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays)

Compensation: $22.00 per hour

Benefits: This is a part-time position and is not eligible for company benefits.

Shift Supervisor role overview A Shift Supervisor overviews both the daily activities and the performance of museum staff members during their shift. They are responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction during visits, ensuring that the museums’ exhibits are operating as expected, and handling requests or complaints when needed. The Shift Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the museum team to ensure seamless visitor experience. Key responsibilities include:

What you would get to do:

- Supervise daily museum floor operations, supporting a team of front-line staff to ensure smooth visitor flow and high-quality guest experience.
- Coordinate staff placements and rotations to meet operational needs and maintain proper coverage across exhibits, admissions, and retail areas.




- Support daily operational goals, including guest satisfaction, efficiency, and adherence to museum standards.
- Assist with onboarding and training new team members, helping them integrate into the museum environment and understanding guest experience expectations.
- Maintain an active presence on the museum floor, monitoring staff performance and guest satisfaction throughout the shift.
- Provide real-time coaching, guidance, and feedback to team members to support performance and service standards.
- Ensure museum policies, safety procedures, and guest conduct guidelines are consistently followed by both staff and visitors.
- Address and help resolve employee concerns or conflicts in a professional and constructive manner.
- Serve as the first point of contact for guest service matters, including questions, feedback, or refund/discount requests when needed.
- Monitor exhibit functionality and presentation, reporting any maintenance or operational issues to management.
- Support overall museum presentation, ensuring cleanliness and organization are maintained throughout operating hours.
- Report directly to the Shift Manager and provide updates on shift performance or operational issues.





What you should bring along:

- Previous experience in a retail, attraction, hospitality, or entertainment venue in a customer-facing role.
- Robust customer service and problem-solving skills, with the ability to confidently address guest questions, concerns, or complaints.
- Ability to lead by example on the floor, maintaining high standards of guest engagement, professionalism, and energy.
- Experience with point-of-sale systems, ticketing platforms, or retail sales is an asset.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to coordinate staff assignments and adapt to changing operational needs.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions quickly in fast-paced environments with high guest traffic.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with guests, team members, and management.
- A positive, proactive attitude and a passion for creating fun and memorable guest experiences.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance on the museum floor and reinforce dress and presentation standards across the team.
- Proficiency in English (additional languages are an asset).

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent Pay: $22.00 per hour
