Purpose: Assist the Branch Manager in carrying out the functions of the fabrication shop. Ensure safe and effective work flow by supervising shop staff and overseeing production in accordance with company policy, customer demands, and local, state and federal regulations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate leadership consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication’s vision and values.
Ensure that established safety policies, rules and regulations, and procedures are followed.
Responsible for all processes, equipment, employees, safety and housekeeping of the area, and meeting production quality and quantity standards in the designated functional area. May have assistance from Rebar Fabricator Lead.
Supervise all personnel and operations on designated shift(s) and/or areas.
Oversee daily work assignments, and work schedules so that the most efficient use is made of all resources and equipment. May have assistance from Rebar Fabricator Lead.
Troubleshoot production problems encountered by workers to minimize delays and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Oversee maintenance on shop equipment in the designated functional area to minimize downtime and ensure equipment operates as safely as possible.
Perform quality inspections of completed work to ensure the correct quantity of correctly fabricated and correctly tagged material is shipped to the proper customer’s destination.
Assist in the evaluation of employees so that appropriate compensation can be made to employees based on merit.
Perform various jobs such as operation of shears, benders, cranes, forklifts, etc. to ensure shift work is completed efficiently and on time.
Perform other duties as requested by the Branch Manager Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent
Must be familiar with and adhere to shop safety policies and procedures Proficient in the use of computers At least five years’ experience in a rebar shop or manufacturing setting or equivalent
Two years previous supervisor experience in a manufacturing setting or equivalent
Ability to operate all shop equipment
Skilled in communication, supervision, planning and human relations
Basic knowledge of business, labor relations, and industrial regulations Preferred Qualifications and Education Requirements Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Health and Safety Certification Special Demands Extended hours may be required during peak production
Occasional travel may be necessary
Must maintain confidentiality of personnel records and sensitive business information
Must be able to work any shift Physical Demands Some heavy lifting may be necessary
Working conditions can be noisy, dusty, hot, cold
