Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Site Superintendent to oversee and manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
The Site
Superintendent serves as the primary field leader, responsible for coordinating subcontractors, directing site personnel, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety regulations, and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, building codes, and company standards.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with extensive knowledge of construction methods, site operations, and project coordination. This individual must be capable of effectively managing multiple stakeholders, including clients, consultants, trades, suppliers, and internal teams, while maintaining a qualified and productive job site environment.
This position offers the opportunity to lead a diverse range of projects, including residential renovations, restoration work, additions, and new construction, while playing a critical role in delivering exceptional project outcomes and ensuring client satisfaction.
Site Superintendent Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all daily on-site construction activities, providing leadership and direction to labourers, trades, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure job sites are fully prepared for scheduled work, including site access, materials, equipment, safety measures, and work area readiness.
- Coordinate trade sequencing, deliveries, site logistics, and workforce activities to maintain project efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and proactively address risks related to schedule, quality, safety, budget, and client expectations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and professional job site in compliance with company policies and safety standards.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors and suppliers to ensure work is completed according to project requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
- Conduct quality control inspections, identify deficiencies, and ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.
- Track and follow up on incomplete work, punch list items, site protection requirements, and project closeout activities.
- Maintain accurate site documentation, including progress reports, photos, site conditions, material requirements, and project updates.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, inspectors, consultants, subcontractors, and internal team members, escalating issues and change requests as required.
Site Superintendent Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of construction site supervision experience.
- Strong knowledge of residential construction, renovations, and restoration projects.
- Ability to lead and coordinate trades, subcontractors, and site personnel effectively.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and project deadlines.
- Comfortable using mobile devices and construction management software for reporting and documentation.
- Valid Ontario G Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- WHMIS and Working at Heights certifications required or willingness to obtain.
- Professional, dependable, and client-focused with a strong work ethic.
Assets
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Trade certification, construction management education, or related industry training.
- Experience with Houzz Pro or other construction management software is a plus.
