About the Position

Great Lawns Property Care Inc. is seeking reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious Snow Shovellers to join our winter operations team.

Snow Shovellers are responsible for clearing snow and ice from sidewalks, walkways, entrances, stairs and other pedestrian areas at commercial properties throughout Belleville and the Quinte Region.

This is a seasonal, weather-dependent, on-call position. Team members must be prepared to respond when winter weather occurs, including snowfall, freezing rain, ice buildup, drifting and flash-freeze conditions.

Call-outs may occur during the day, overnight, early mornings, weekends and statutory holidays. Hours will vary depending on weather conditions and operational requirements, and a minimum number of weekly hours is not guaranteed.

Previous snow-removal experience is not required. Training will be provided.

Primary Responsibilities

- Manually clear snow from sidewalks, walkways, building entrances, stairs, ramps, loading areas and other assigned pedestrian surfaces.
- Apply salt, ice melt and other approved de-icing materials using hand spreaders or other assigned equipment.
- Safely operate snow shovels, pushers, snow blowers and other small winter-maintenance equipment after receiving appropriate training.
- Break up and remove packed snow and ice where required.
- Keep entrances, emergency exits, accessibility routes and high-traffic pedestrian areas clear and accessible.
- Follow assigned property maps, routes, service instructions and supervisor directions.
- Return to previously serviced areas when additional accumulation, drifting or refreezing requires follow-up service.
- Identify and report icy areas, trip hazards, property damage, blocked drains, equipment problems and other unsafe conditions.
- Complete required service documentation, including arrival and departure times, site conditions, work completed, material usage and photographs where required.
- Maintain regular communication with crew leaders, dispatchers and supervisors throughout each shift.
- Load, unload, carry, clean and properly store shovels, spreaders, snow blowers, de-icing materials and other equipment.
- Work carefully around parked vehicles, buildings, landscaping, curbs, pedestrians and other winter-maintenance equipment.




- Follow all company safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
- Assist other crew members and properties as directed during larger or longer winter events.

Qualifications and Experience
- No previous snow-removal experience is required.
- Previous commercial snow-removal, landscaping, construction, property-maintenance or outdoor-labour experience is considered an asset.
- Valid Ontario G licence and a clean or acceptable driver’s abstract are preferred, particularly for applicants who may be assigned to drive company crew vehicles.
- Reliable transportation to the designated shop or reporting location is required.
- Ability to respond promptly to dispatch notifications and report for work within the company’s required response window.
- Availability throughout the winter season from November 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027.
- Availability for daytime, overnight, early-morning, weekend and holiday call-outs.
- Ability to work safely and productively in snow, freezing rain, wind, cold temperatures and changing winter conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work for extended periods.
- Ability to safely perform repetitive shovelling, pushing, lifting, carrying, bending, walking and standing.
- Ability to safely walk and work on snowy, icy, uneven and slippery surfaces.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a crew.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality and communication.
- Working mobile phone and ability to use a smartphone for dispatch notifications, time tracking, photographs and service documentation.
- Familiarity with Belleville, Quinte West, Prince Edward County and the surrounding Quinte Region is considered an asset.

Compensation and Working Conditions
- $22.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on previous experience, winter-maintenance knowledge, licence qualifications and demonstrated ability.
- Seasonal employment from November 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027.
- On-call, weather-dependent scheduling with no guaranteed minimum number of hours.
- Shifts may begin or end at any time of day or night.
- Shifts may continue for extended periods during significant or ongoing winter weather events.




- Work is completed outdoors in cold, snowy, icy, wet and windy conditions.
- Training will be provided for successful applicants.
- Snow-removal equipment and de-icing materials will be supplied by the company.
- Applicants must be able to wear the required personal protective equipment and suitable winter workwear.
- Successful applicants may be required to provide a current driver’s abstract before operating a company vehicle.
