The Opportunity:
We are currently hiring a full-time, permanent Stair Builder.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building custom stairs according to drawings and specifications, preparing materials, assisting with installations, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment while delivering quality craftsmanship.
Duties Include:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine project specifications.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and finish wood and other materials to build custom stairs and stair components.
- Gather, move, and prepare materials required for production (includes lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials; heavy lifting required (100lb)).
- Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement effective solutions to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Coordinate with the Installation Team to ensure all products and materials are complete and ready for installation. Assist with installations as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years’ experience in Carpentry or related field required. Red seal carpenter or cabinetmaker is an asset.
- Finish & fine carpentry skills required (i.e. trim, table saw, chop saw, etc.).
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Robust knowledge of woodworking materials and techniques.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and work from detailed drawings.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working at heights and assisting with installations.
- Willingness to work overtime as required based on seasonal demands and workload.
- Please note: Reliable transportation is essential as there is no public transit to Kawartha Stair & Rail.
