Job Summary
University Food Services (UNFS) is the primary provider of food and beverage services at the University of Victoria. UNFS provides meals to students, staff, faculty and external clients through several retail and residential dining venues as well as its catering division, Degrees Catering. UNFS currently operates retail venues across campus ranging from small grab and go cafés to high volume food court operations.
The Storekeeper – Foods performs ordering duties within the food services operations. This includes ensuring the proper items are ordered, received in and stored according to established food services policies and procedures. This position also ensures the proper distribution of products to food services outlets.
Job Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum three years’ experience in a high volume purchasing and receiving environment is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Knowledge/Education:
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Valid Food Safe Level l Certification.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with a driving abstract.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work safely and follow health and safety procedures as established by UNFS policy.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Basic math comprehension skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and service-oriented attitude.
- Excellent customer service skills and knowledge of food service principles.
- Ability to work independently and within a team workplace.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite Applications, including Excel and Outlook, and with the ability to perform confidently within suppliers’ web-based platforms.
- Ability to stand for extended periods; perform frequent bending, reaching, and twisting; repeatedly lift 10–20kgs, lift to 25kg and push or pull up to 25kg..
