Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, relationship-focused, and highly organized qualified who is passionate about creating exceptional student experiences and building meaningful partnerships. Reporting to the Manager, Student Advising, the Student Initiatives Officer leads the coordination and delivery of high-profile, externally funded scholarship initiatives, including the Northpine Fellowship Program, Schulich Builders, and other donor-supported programs. Working collaboratively across the College and with external partners, the incumbent develops and delivers student engagement, leadership, networking, transition, and enrichment opportunities that enhance the scholar experience while ensuring programs align with institutional priorities and donor expectations.
The role serves as the central point of coordination for scholarship-related programming, communications, events, stakeholder engagement, and program reporting, while monitoring outcomes and preparing reports that demonstrate student success and program impact. This position requires exceptional organizational, relationship-building, and project coordination skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work with sensitive and confidential information,
and foster meaningful partnerships with students, donors, community partners, and College stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the delivery of high-profile, externally funded scholarship initiatives, ensuring programs are implemented effectively and aligned with donor expectations and College priorities.
- Plan and deliver student engagement, leadership, networking, transition, and enrichment programming that enhances the scholar experience and supports student success.
- Lead the coordination of workshops, events, recognition activities, and community-building opportunities for scholarship recipients.
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, communication schedules, and tracking tools to support successful program delivery.
- Collaborate with academic schools and College partners to coordinate integrated student supports and programming.
- Serve as the primary point of coordination for scholar engagement activities, fostering strong relationships with students, donors, community partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Support scholarship selection activities by coordinating application review processes, preparing materials, and ensuring adherence to program requirements and institutional policies.
- Monitor program activities, identify operational issues or risks, and recommend solutions to support continuous improvement.
- Collect, analyze, and report on program outcomes, student engagement, participation, retention, and employment metrics.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and communications that demonstrate program impact and fulfill donor, funding, and institutional reporting requirements.
- Coordinate stewardship activities and communicate the impact of donor-supported initiatives through meaningful student and stakeholder engagement.
- Gather and evaluate participant feedback to inform program enhancements and improve the overall student experience.
- Develop and deliver communications that promote scholarship programming, events, leadership opportunities, and student participation.
- Coordinate event logistics, meetings, and stakeholder communications to ensure high-quality program delivery.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive student, donor, and program information.
Qualifications/Experience
- Diploma or degree in Social Sciences, Education, Student Affairs, Community Development, Business Administration, Project Management, Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience coordinating complex projects or programs involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with conducting qualitative research (interviews, focus groups, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience planning, implementing, and evaluating initiatives from concept through completion.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting on program data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience working in a post-secondary education environment or a student-focused organization, with an understanding of student success principles and practices.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and creating welcoming, student-centered experiences.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Experience coordinating events, committees, partnerships, or stakeholder engagement initiatives is considered an asset.
