Supply Educator (RECE/ECEA) – Casual/On-Call

Location: 7 Curtis Street, St. Thomas, Ontario
Position: Casual/On-Call
Schedule: Monday to Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., based on operational needs
Wage: $22.00 per hour plus provincial wage enhancement grant

First Place Early Learning Centre Inc. is seeking a dependable, flexible, and caring Supply Educator (RECE/ECEA) to provide casual, on-call support within our licensed child care centre.
The Supply Educator plays an important role in supporting daily classroom operations by providing coverage for absent employees and assisting classrooms during times of increased staffing needs. Depending on qualifications, this position may work in a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) or Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) capacity.

What You'll Do
- Provide classroom coverage and support based on the operational needs of the centre.
- Support children from infancy to preschool age through responsive care, play, exploration, and daily routines.
- Follow the direction of the Program Supervisor and classroom educators.
- Participate in play-based learning experiences that support children's interests, development, and well-being.
- Assist with classroom routines, outdoor play, meals, rest periods, transitions, and learning activities.
- Adapt quickly to different classrooms, age groups, and daily schedules.
- Maintain active supervision and support children's health, safety, and well-being.
- Follow all health, safety, sanitation, infection prevention, emergency,
and child care procedures.
- Support children's individual needs, including allergies, medical requirements, individualized plans, and accommodations.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, educators, and visitors.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
- Support the mission, vision, and core values of First Place Early Learning Centre Inc.
Qualifications
Applicants must have
- OSSD or equivalent.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Up-to-date immunization documentation as required.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
Applicants may qualify as either: Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE):
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA):
- Experience working with children in a child care, school, recreation, or community setting is considered an asset.
- Formal education related to child care, education, or child and youth services is considered an asset.
