Swing Technician – Touring Show Stage Carpentry and Props Full-Time Position Please note that this position is for you to tour internationally full-time and to work in foreign countries.

- We are looking for a Swing Technician to join one of Cirque du Soleil’s touring shows. Reporting to the Technical Director and working under the supervision of the Head of Department, Carpentry & Props, this multi-skilled role provides technical coverage and support across multiple departments, including Carpentry & Props, with opportunities to train and operate show tracks in Audio, Rigging, Lighting, and Automation.

The Swing

Technician ensures protected, efficient, and consistent operations during rehearsals, performances, and city transfers, while maintaining the highest standards of artistry and safety. The ideal candidate is a versatile technician with strong hands-on skills in stage carpentry and props, excellent adaptability, and a willingness to learn and support multiple technical disciplines in a dynamic touring environment.

The Swing Technician Will Have The

Opportunity To Operate backstage and run show tracks during rehearsals, performances, and artist training sessions.

Learn and develop the ability to cover show tracks in multiple departments (Audio, Lighting, Rigging, Automation), providing operational flexibility.

Participate in the load-in, set-up, tear-down, and load-out of scenic elements and stage systems during city transfers.

Inspect, maintain, and repair stage and props equipment, scenic elements, puppets, acrobatic structures, and mechanical systems as assigned, ensuring they remain safe and functional.

Conduct daily pre-show checks and assist with preventive maintenance programs for all department equipment.





Support the integration, installation, and construction of new scenic and acrobatic elements.

Maintain accurate documentation including maintenance logs, cue sheets, inspection reports, and inventory records.

Collaborate with the Head of Department to develop safe operating systems, preventive maintenance routines, and departmental procedures.

Participate in the construction, alteration, and installation of new scenic elements, props and acrobatic equipment as required.

Collaborate with other technical departments during load-in, set-up, tear-down, load-out, rehearsals, performances, and emergency situations.

Assist with stock management, ordering, and upkeep of department materials, tools, and consumables.

Support contingency planning and respond quickly to technical issues during live shows.

Ensure compliance with Cirque du Soleil protocols, OSHA, and local safety regulations; always apply safe work practices.

Foster a collaborative, respectful, and safe working environment aligned with Cirque du Soleil’s values.

Perform other related duties as assigned The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: Required: Availability to tour internationally full-time and work in foreign countries.

College diploma in live entertainment, theatre production, or equivalent professional experience.





Minimum 2 years of professional experience in technical theatre, live entertainment, or large-scale productions; touring experience is an asset.

Strong technical skills in stage carpentry and props maintenance; additional skills in audio, lighting, video, rigging, or automation are considered strong assets.

Ability and willingness to learn and operate show tracks across multiple technical departments.

Knowledge of woodworking, fiberglass, metalworking, puppetry, animatronics, painting, welding, pneumatic and electrical systems is an asset.

Good general understanding of all technical production disciplines and backstage operations.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in live performance environments.

Flexible, autonomous, and adaptable; able to remain calm under pressure.

Solid teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-departmentally.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS) is an asset.

Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
