Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Taper to join our construction team. As a Taper, you will be responsible for applying joint compound, or "mud," to drywall seams, screw holes, and other surface imperfections to create a smooth, flawless finish ready for painting or finishing. This role is vital in ensuring high-quality wall surfaces that meet industry standards and project specifications.

The ideal candidate will bring construction experience, proficiency in drywall finishing techniques, and a keen eye for detail to deliver exceptional results efficiently.

Duties

- Apply joint compound accurately along drywall seams, corners, and fasteners using taping knives and other tools
- Sand and smooth finished surfaces to achieve a seamless appearance suitable for painting or finishing
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to understand project requirements and specifications
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and priming as needed before applying finishing materials
- Use caulking techniques to seal gaps around trims, fixtures, or joints for a polished look
- Collaborate with carpenters, painters, and other trades to ensure cohesive project progress




- Maintain cleanliness of work area and properly store tools and materials after each shift

Experience

- Proven experience in construction painting, drywall finishing, or related carpentry roles
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and safety protocols on job sites
- Skilled in blueprint reading to understand project layouts and specifications
- Handyman experience with general repair skills is highly desirable
- Familiarity with caulking techniques and tools used in surface sealing
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality standards
- Prior experience with construction projects involving drywall installation and finishing is preferred
