POSITION

Teacher - Philosophy / Humanities (Fall 2026) part-time replacement The College is seeking a part-time replacement professor to teach the following courses within our Philosophy and Humanities department for the Fall 2026 semester.

340-102-MQ Concepts of Humanity

3 hours of teaching and 3 hours of availability (2 sections)

A survey of the history of philosophy as it pertains to how humanity has come to understand itself morally, metaphysically, psychologically, spiritually, and epistemologically. Topics discussed may include (but are not restricted to) nominalism, humanism, attitudes towards the Ancients and towards the future, empiricism, rationalism, modernity, existentialism,

and/or post-modernity.

340-912-RE Modern Philosophy

3 hours of teaching and 3 hours of availability (1 section)

The course introduces students to modern Western philosophy (15th to 20th century) as expressed in the writings of some of its major philosophers (e.g. Descartes and Hume). Topics covered may include epistemology (e.g. rationalism, empiricism, transcendentalism),



metaphysics (e.g. human nature, God, mind/body problem, personal identity, meaning of life), and value theory (e.g. morality, politics).

Some contemporary versions of philosophical issues stemming from modern philosophy (e.g. nature of consciousness, free will) may also be explored.

345-102-MQ World Views

3 hours of teaching and 3 hours of availability (1 section)

The course focuses on how individuals, groups, societies or nations organize ideas, perceptions and values into explanatory patterns. Students explore major ideas and value systems by which diverse individuals, groups, societies or nations seek to explain the world and their place in it.

SALARY RANGE (ANNUAL)

57,548.00$ - 110,825.00$

ROLE SUMMARY In a general way, the professor's teaching load shall include: preparation of course outline; preparation of classes, labs and fieldwork; teaching classes, labs and fieldwork; adaptation; support and supervision of students; preparation, invigilation and correction of examinations; revision of corrections at the students’ request; participation in pedagogical days organized by the College; participation in departmental meetings and required activities.



May also include departmental coordination; program committee coordination; special support and supervision activities; participation in program activities; program development; implementation and evaluation; and institutional development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

- Minimum of a Master’s degree in Philosophy.
- Teaching experience would be considered an asset.
- Must possess excellent communication in English.
- Ability to teach in French will be considered an asset.
