Technology Architect – Senior Role Overview The Senior Technology Architect develops, recommends, implements, and manages technical architectures (hardware, software, databases, and communications) for large, distributed, cross-platform environments. This role is responsible for identifying key information and determining appropriate development environments to support strategic application needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture Management: Design, implement, and maintain scalable technical architectures across enterprise platforms.
- Environment Strategy: Define, evaluate, and establish optimal development, database, and operational environments.
- Requirements & Modeling: Translate complex business requirements into data models (conceptual, logical, physical) and reporting solutions.
- Process Design: Embed ITIL-aligned processes into architectural frameworks and guide cross-functional teams in their adoption.
- Technology Roadmap: Monitor emerging technology trends to drive continuous architectural innovation.
Skills & Qualifications
General Skills
- Architectural Leadership: Proven leadership in designing and deploying technical architectures at a senior level.
- Multi-Platform Expertise: Deep hands-on experience across at least three distinct platforms, operating systems, database technologies,
and communication protocols.
- Integration & Performance: Expertise in middleware, gateways, and performance optimization across diverse environments.
- Systems Analysis & Methodology: Strong background in structured software development lifecycles (SDLC) and large-scale systems design.
- Tooling: Experience utilizing CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering) tools and contemporary project management software.
- Core Competencies: Outstanding analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication; proven track record of meeting strict deadlines as a collaborative team player.
Desirable Skills
- Government Frameworks: Experience developing Enterprise Architecture (EA) deliverables aligned with Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture processes and practices.
- Content Management: Hands-on knowledge of Enterprise Content Management systems (specifically OpenText ECM applications).
- Information Governance: In-depth understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and best practices.
Deliverables
- Enterprise Architecture models, artifacts, and documentation (aligned with organizational/governmental standards).
- Conceptual, logical, and physical data/process models.
- Technical architecture recommendations, technical blueprints, and implementation roadmaps.
