Your Prospect

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

- Support Lead, Senior, and Volunteer Patrollers with visitor safety and accident reduction through positive and educational interactions with guests
- Promote the Alpine Responsibility Code




- Proactively monitor for hazards and poor surface conditions on all trails/runs and surrounding areas and report issues to Patrol team or other appropriate departments
- Proactively participate in control of public traffic on the slopes with a focus on safety and education
- Assist the Patrol team during incidents by applying First Aid skills as required
- Support the Patrol team by providing incident scene management, blocking off the area, managing crowd control, and gathering information
- Assist with closing hill sweep, ensuring all guests have descended safely
- Work in a team environment and be prepared to support other departments as required
- Act in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
- Other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications

- Must be 14 years or older by December 31st, 2026
- Must have experience skiing or snowboarding
- Availability:
- Approximate commitment of 80 hours throughout the winter season – typically one weeknight and one day every other weekend
- Able to attend pre-season training – approximately 20 hours between November and December

- Successful candidates must provide their Ski/Snowboard equipment including Skis/Snowboard, boots, Poles, Helmet *Uniform will be provided (to be returned end of season)
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, on diverse terrain.
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds, stand, walk or ski/snowboard for long periods of time
- Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
- Successful candidates will be required to have Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification prior to first day of volunteering
- CH parks are not accessible by public transit; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation
