Position Overview The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of the company's centralized warehouse and distribution facility. This position oversees all warehouse activities including receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping, labeling, and personnel management.
The Warehouse
Manager ensures product is received from manufacturing sites, stored appropriately, and shipped accurately and on time to customers while maintaining inventory integrity and workplace safety.
This role manages warehouse staff and works closely with production, customer service, transportation providers, and management to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping.
- Coordinate daily inbound shipments from production facilities.
- Coordinate daily outbound shipments to customers according to scheduled delivery requirements.
- Ensure efficient movement and storage of palletised products, including:
- Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and space utilization.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Oversee inbound & outbound activities and verify quantities and product condition.
- Ensure accurate picking, staging, labeling, and shipping of customer orders.
- Ensure all bags/totes are properly labeled prior to shipment.
- Coordinate loading schedules with carriers and customers.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and stock levels.
- Conduct cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Monitor product rotation and storage practices.
- Generate inventory and operational reports as required.
- Directly supervise warehouse staff, shippers, receivers, and forklift operators.
- Schedule labour resources to meet operational demands.
- Train employees on procedures, equipment operation, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and development.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, occupational health and safety regulations, and warehouse procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and corrective actions.
- Investigate incidents and implement preventative measures.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of material handling equipment.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized facility.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, accuracy, efficiency, and cost control.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory accuracy, shipping accuracy, labor productivity, and safety.
- Participate in warehouse system improvements and operational projects.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse operations experience or similar.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Experience with inventory control and shipping operations.
- Experience operating within ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
- Lean, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma experience considered an asset.
