ALL IN: The 2025-2029 Lambton College Strategic Plan About The Position This is a temporary, part time support staff position replacing a bargaining unit employee. Reporting to the Associate Director, Student Success & Access Programs the incumbent will be required to work 11 hours per week at an hourly rate of $47.13 This role will start on September 8, 2026 and run for 6 weeks.
The Wellness Centre
Nurse provides on-campus health care, advice and education to the College Community by performing nursing services for emergency, episodic illness, health counselling and occupational health. The incumbent actively maintains a confidential health record system, oversees the Health/Wellness Centre and will collaborate with the nurse practitioner and nursing team.
The Wellness Centre
Nurse also conducts Health Clearances for students participating in Clinical education for their respective programs. This includes taking blood for appropriate testing, interpretation of the results,
and using critical thinking skills to identify which vaccines are needed in a particular order and if further testing is required.
Health
Services delivered by the incumbent include physical health assessments, preventative health care, health education, health counselling and first aid. The nurse must also ensure that legislative and contractual health requirements are met by students prior to commencing academic placements.
Specific Accountabilities
Makes assessments, using the nursing process to assess client’s needs, nature and acuity of problems. This includes triage of emergency conditions, dealing with problems in order of importance and appropriate treatment or referral for medical surgical and psychological conditions.
Offers counselling for prevention of illness, enhancement of health practices, contraception, nutrition, fitness programs, hypertension, communicable diseases, substance abuse, stress related conditions, sexual abuse and other health needs. Makes referrals to appropriate internal/external resources.
Responds to onsite medical emergency situations, acts as a professional resource to the College, students and staff. Completes WSIB and accident reports.
Monitors results of medical tests and follows up with abnormal results in consultation with a nurse practitioner, physician or Community Health Agency.
Qualifications Registered Nurse with a Certificate of Competence in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses is required
4 Year Degree, or equivalent, required plus skilled designation
Current CPR and First Aid Certificates
