The Organization:

For over 40 years, Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (BTFC) has been dedicated to supporting,

educating, and empowering everyone affected by a brain tumour while funding research and

advocating for better outcomes. Our vision is to find the cause of and a cure for brain tumours while

improving the quality of life for those affected.

The Role:

The Senior Development Officer will plan, implement, manage and optimize a comprehensive

annual giving plan that includes recurring and monthly giving programs, as well as In Memoriam and

Tribute Giving. The incumbent will also work alongside their colleagues in Marketing &

Communications to support the development of fundraising activities related to national marketing

initiatives.

The Senior Development Officer reports to the Director of External Relations and works closely and

collaboratively with all the teams across the Foundation.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning and managing

• In partnership with the Director, External Relations, develop, execute and manage annual

giving strategic programs and campaigns that increase donor participation, engagement and

annual fund revenue (acquisition and special appeals; monthly giving; in Memoriam/In

Tribute giving).

• Plan, manage and coordinate annual fundraising initiatives (print and digital) include special

requests, holiday appeal, monthly giving, In Memoriam/In Tribute giving, as well as

marketing campaigns with special donation requests.

• Collaborate with marketing and communications to create and deliver integrated fundraising

campaigns across multiple channels including advertising.

• Develop and manage a donor Welcome Program to build donor data base.

• Create and manage revenue and expense budgets for campaigns and annual projects.

Donor relations

• Approach all work using a donor-centred philosophy including all solicitation and donor

relations materials.

• Contribute to the development and management of the Foundation’s donor relations

programs including acknowledgements, stewardship and recognition.

• Develop and execute strategic initiatives that steward annual donors.

Content development

• Develop, review, edit and manage print and digital content development using donor-centred practices to enhance revenue.





• Contribute to the planning and development of bi-annual donor Foundation newsletter.

Analysis, testing and segmentation

• Monitor and analyze annual giving and donor engagement performance, leveraging data,

analytics and emerging technologies to identify trends, test, learn and continuously to

inform future strategies.

• Explore and embrace opportunities for testing and segmentation to improve engagement,

improve donor retention, loyalty, lifetime value and increase revenue.

• Develop and implement strategies that move donors through the pipeline and annually

identify major gift prospects.

• Using organizational KPIs, monitor and report on performance metrics.

Collaborations and Partnerships

• Collaborate with Manager, Database Operations & Strategy to pull accurate and segmented

listing and maintain accurate donor records, appeal and campaign reporting as well as

annual growth and retention rates.

• Partner with Marketing & Communication to execute aligned messaging, storytelling, and

branding across all annual giving touchpoints that support annual giving goals.

• Identify and cultivate suppliers and partners in support of the Foundation’s goals.

• Serve as a member of the fundraising and External Relations team to advance all Foundation

initiatives.

Collaboration and cross-organizational alignment

• Perform other duties as assigned to support the Foundation’s priorities and operations.

• Attend Foundation events as required and serves as a key ambassador for the organization.

• Model and promote the principles of the Foundation’s Collaboration Charter in all

interactions, decisions, and working relationships.

Performance Outcomes:

• Fundraising impact: Plans progressively increase donor database and revenue.

• Donor Retention: Creative and effective fundraising approaches lead to improved donor

retention.

• Brand awareness and reach:



Plans and content development improve brand awareness

nationally.

• Efficiency: reduced expenses, effective use of resources, collaborative and streamlined

processes, strong cross-team alignment.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

• University degree in communications, marketing, business or arts and humanities, a CFRE an

asset.

• 4+ years of annual program experience.

• Proven experience planning, managing and executing fundraising campaign.

• Demonstrated experience with analytics, testing and segmentation.

• Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to leverage data and reporting to

evaluate fundraising performance.

• Creative, inquisitive, and strong communication (writing) skills using a donor-centred

approach.

• Solutions oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities.

• Superb project management, process development and logistical planning skills.

• Proficiency with CRM systems, (Raiser’s Edge & AKA Raisin) digital marketing tools and

analytics platforms.

• Service oriented with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.

• Criminal Record Check Level 2 required.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
