About the Role

We are looking for an equity-based fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial strategy, capital raise, and long-term financial planning. As a senior executive, you will play a key role in shaping our financial infrastructure, supporting our investor relations, and ensuring solid fiscal governance as we scale our operations and manufacturing in Canada.

This is a strategic role for a finance leader who thrives in early-stage, high-growth environments and brings experience working with startups, investors, and innovation-focused industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the company’s capital raise (SAFE, equity, and non-dilutive funding)
• Build and maintain detailed financial models, forecasts, and cash flow planning
• Support investor outreach, due diligence, and data room preparation
• Oversee financial reporting, controls, and accounting in collaboration with external partners
• Monitor KPIs, burn rate, CAC/LTV, runway, and cost structures
• Guide budgeting and financial decision-making across departments
• Advise on funding strategy, equity dilution,
  
  
  
  and valuation scenarios
• Ensure compliance with Canadian tax laws, SR&ED, and grant opportunities
• Collaborate with the CEO and executive team on company strategy and fundraising milestones

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of financial leadership, ideally within tech startups or hardware manufacturing
• Experience managing or supporting venture capital fundraising rounds
• Strong background in financial modeling, cap table management, and forecasting
• Familiarity with Canadian startup tax credits and funding programs (e.g. IRAP, SDTC, SR&ED)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present financials to stakeholders and investors
• Proficient in QuickBooks, financial tools, and dashboarding/reporting platforms

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in clean tech, IoT, or product-based startups
• Network of investors, accelerators, and funding partners in North America
• Understanding of financial needs related to setting up or scaling manufacturing operations
