fax med orders to pharmacy and order enter all other ordersUpdate patient room list and board dailyWrite daily assignment sheet for next 24 hours under the direction of the Nurse Manager/Team LeaderStock charts and cupboards, file old sheets in chartsConducts monthly "dangerous abbreviations" chart auditsAnswer family questions and accompany visitors to patient's bedsideThin patient charts as necessaryOrder supplies for wardQualifications:Medical Office Administration or post‐secondary education in related field requiredMedical Terminology or Administration post‐secondary education or equivalent knowledge gained through past experience requiredMedical terminology experience and education requiredExcellent computer skills required with a demonstrated typing speed of 40 - 50 wpmAbility to transcribe orders is requiredDemonstrated excellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast paced environmentDemonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance requiredDemonstrated commitment to quality and patient safety, considers safety of self and co‐workersPlease Note:Assignment subject to change based on the needs of the department.Joseph Brant Hospital is committed to an equitable and inclusive culture where everyone thrives and feels that they belong.
