Overview

The Department of Management at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) invites applications for a full‑time tenure stream position in Management. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027. The successful candidate will be eligible to be named the inaugural Sam Ibrahim Chair in Entrepreneurship for a five‑year term, which may be renewable following a favourable review.

Responsibilities

• Lead academic research and collaboration with the Sam Ibrahim Centre for Inclusive Excellence in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Leadership (SICIEEIL).


• Work collaboratively with the UTSC’s Office of the Vice‑Principal Academic & Dean, the Office of the Vice‑Principal Research and Innovation, and other university units within the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.


• Engage with the Director of SICIEEIL and Partnerships, supporting day‑to‑day administration of SICIEEIL’s initiatives.


• Develop and sustain an innovative, independent research program in entrepreneurship, securing competitive external funding.


• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in entrepreneurship, integrating theory and practice effectively.


• Supervise graduate students and contribute to departmental teaching and curriculum development.


• Demonstrate dynamic academic leadership, collegiality, and the ability to mobilise resources to foster a vibrant platform for entrepreneurship in Arts & Science.






• Participate in the cross‑appointment to the Rotman School of Management, collaborating with faculty and graduate students at the St. George Campus.

Qualifications

• PhD in Management or a related functional area (Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Organization Behavior, Operations Management, Strategic Management, or similar).


• Exceptional record of research and teaching expertise in entrepreneurship, with an internationally recognised reputation.


• Demonstrated ability to sustain and lead cutting-edge research, maintain an outstanding external funding programme, and publish in top‑ranked, field‑relevant journals.


• Experience teaching in a management program, with evidence of teaching excellence and the capacity to supervise graduate students.


• Dynamic academic leadership, adaptability, and track record of stakeholder engagement within and beyond the university.

Benefits

The rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range exceeds CAD $200,000 per annum.
