Compensation Range $10,155.00 - $15,842.17 CAD Monthly
The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Business Information Systems (BIS) is tasked with providing comprehensive and sustainable IT solutions for our clients. Our focus is on developing, implementing and maintaining a wide range of applications and underlying infrastructure that meet the unique needs of each client. The Manager provides operational management and technical leadership for a suite of service offerings within a single reporting unit. The position manages and mentors staff in the day-to-day performance of work, participates in the development of resource plans, and provides technical leadership within various product and service lines. The Manager will lead various concurrent projects and participate as a member of a project team, committee or workgroup. This position provides leadership in the design, selection, or application of information systems to satisfy the business requirements of UBC. This position also acts as a subject matter expert, and provides operational project management, business process analysis, systems support coordination, and applications lifecycle management.
This position reports to the Senior Manager of Business Information Systems and provides direct and indirect supervision to staff within the BIS portfolio. This position works closely with technical staff to leverage common approaches and resources between departments. This position also liaises with technical staff and management from other University departments and management from other University departments and represents the portfolio to other universities, external federal, provincial and local government agencies, granting agencies and trading partners to facilitate effective business solutions and to meet regulatory requirements.
Effective application lifecycle management is essential for UBC IT to deliver services across campus. Decisions and actions taken by the incumbent will have a direct impact on how efficiently and effectively UBC systems perform and function. Failure to meet service level obligations for performance and availability of Applications could adversely impact the University community, including the large majority of students, faculty and staff, and could cost millions of dollars in lost productivity, funding and revenue. It will also risk damaging the reputation of UBC IT and the University as a whole.
Works with complete latitude within general policies and an administrative framework. Work is reviewed in terms of achievement of specific objectives. The Manager receives operational direction from the Senior Manager, Business Information Systems and strategic direction from the Director of Application Management Services.
Manages staff directly and oversees deliverables assigned to Contractors and other individuals on a project basis.
