Overview

The Mobile Mental Health Clinician will serve in two rotating capacities: providing direct service to clients in the field as a member of a Mobile Crisis Team and providing triage and telehealth services to clients in distress. The role involves managing crisis calls, conducting risk assessments, collaborating with partner agencies, and supporting mobile crisis and community-based services using evidence‑based, interdisciplinary care pathways.

Responsibilities

- Operate the Mental Health and Addictions Access Line 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Provide immediate response to crisis calls, triage callers, assess risk, and coordinate with police, EMS, and Mobile Crisis Team as needed.
- Conduct mental health and risk assessments, develop clinical case formulations, and employ crisis intervention techniques.
- Utilize telehealth platforms (telephone, video, email, radio, etc.) to deliver care, monitor clients, and facilitate communication with team members and community partners.
- Initiate client records and care plans, monitor progress, and provide follow‑up check‑ins for clients who have been in crisis.
- Educate the community about the Mobile Crisis Service and its limitations.
- Collaborate with community partners, mental health agencies, EMS, hospitals, and other interdisciplinary service providers to coordinate care.
- Participate in staff training, workshops, and the development and implementation of administrative and clinical programs.
- Assist with monitoring and evaluation of services, providing case reviews and reporting.





Minimum Qualifications

- Master’s Degree in Counseling Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, or Social Work; eligible and willing to register with a regulatory body.
- Significant clinical experience in acute and chronic mental illness, case management, and working with diverse client populations;
- Robust health assessment skills and knowledge of the provincial health system.
- Registration or eligibility with PEI Social Work Registration Board, College of Counseling Therapists of PEI, or Psychologists Registration Board.
- Experience collaborating with other agencies, interdisciplinary teams, and program development.
- Independent professional judgement, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer systems and health information technology.
- Knowledge of DSM‑5, Mental Health Act, and crisis intervention; required trauma‑informed and violence‑risk training.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable attendance record.

Other Qualifications

- Experience with evidence‑based interventions for mental health and substance use disorders.
- Experience working with mental health and addictions issues, resistant and aggressive clients, and vulnerable populations.
- Ability to provide initial psychological interviews and assessments.
- Experience working with complex needs and chronic illness.
- Proficiency in English and French is an asset.

Salary & Hours

Salary Range: $40.32 - $50.42 per hour.

Bi‑Weekly Hours: 75 hours, rotating 8 and/or 12‑hour shifts.

Base pay may vary by experience and qualifications. Eligible employees may participate in performance‑based incentive programs.
