What you'll do
- Design and implement game systems that contribute to the overall gameplay experience, ensuring they are engaging and fun for players.
- Collaborate with the art and programming teams to ensure that game systems are feasible and align with the artistic vision of the game.
- Conduct thorough playtesting to gather feedback on game systems and make necessary adjustments to enhance player enjoyment.
- Analyze player data and behavior to inform design decisions and optimize game systems for better performance and engagement.
- Create detailed design documentation that outlines game mechanics, systems, and features for the development team.
- Work closely with the product management team to align game systems with business goals and player retention strategies.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitor games to ensure our systems are innovative and competitive.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas for game features and mechanics, contributing to the creative process.
- Mentor junior designers and provide guidance on best practices in game system design.
- Collaborate with QA teams to ensure that game systems are thoroughly tested and free of bugs before launch.
- Present design concepts and prototypes to stakeholders, incorporating feedback to refine and improve systems.
- Maintain a player-first mindset, ensuring that all game systems prioritize user experience and enjoyment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in game design, specifically focusing on system design for mobile games.
- Proficiency in game design tools and software, such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Strong understanding of game mechanics, player psychology, and engagement strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical team members.
- Experience with data analysis and using metrics to inform design decisions.
- A portfolio showcasing previous work in game system design, including examples of implemented systems and their impact on player experience.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and experience working in a Scrum environment.
- Knowledge of monetization strategies and how they can be integrated into game systems.
- Experience with user interface (UI) design and user experience (UX) principles.
- Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of current mobile game trends and player preferences.
- Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role within a game design team.
