About the role In the capacity of a Senior Software Developer in Test (SDET) on the Quality Platform team, you will take on the critical task of architecting and building testing infrastructures, automation frameworks, and AI-enhanced tools that empower all engineering teams at MaintainX to deliver software with both efficiency and reliability. Rather than concentrating on testing a singular product area, your role will involve the creation of a holistic platform and automation solutions that embed quality as a core principle throughout the organization.Key factsLocation: MontrealEngagement: Full-time, HybridCompensation: Competitive salary with substantial equity opportunitiesTeam: Quality PlatformWhat you'll doDesign and improve MaintainX's unified quality platform, which encompasses automation frameworks and developer-centric tools.Develop an AI-assisted testing infrastructure aimed at drastically reducing the time needed for test creation while upholding rigorous quality standards.Establish continuous integration (CI) protocols and enhance the dependability of build and deployment processes across engineering teams.Create validation environments and tools tailored for AI-driven features, which include health checks, graceful degradation strategies, quota monitoring, and adversarial testing methodologies.Proactively identify and address systemic challenges related to test debt and flaky tests before they adversely affect engineering teams.Construct reusable libraries, utilities,



and testing frameworks that can be utilized organization-wide.Collaborate closely with Quality Advocates, product engineering teams, and the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team to perpetually refine testing strategies and bolster platform reliability.Assess new AI-driven testing tools and advocate for their integration when they yield tangible enhancements in engineering productivity.RequirementsProven experience in designing and maintaining robust test automation frameworks using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or comparable technologies.Solid foundation in software engineering principles, with a track record of developing, debugging, and sustaining production application code.Familiarity with the integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and the ability to troubleshoot unstable or failing test suites.Experience in developing or managing shared tools for developers, testing infrastructure, or engineering platforms.Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar, aimed at optimizing workflows while demonstrating sound technical judgment.Comfortable overseeing end-to-end systems, from architectural design to production support.Experience in mentoring and guiding engineers to uplift quality standards across various teams.Proficient in English,
