The OFL is seeking to fill the position of Communications Representative, who will lead the organization’s membership and public communications efforts.The successful candidate will begin in September 2026, or as soon as possible, and report to the President of the OFL.The OFL is seeking to fill the position of Communications Representative, who will lead the organization’s membership and public communications efforts.1. CORE QUALIFICATIONSThe successful candidate must demonstrate a deep commitment to social justice, workers’ rights, and the trade union movement, and bring6–10 years of communications experience, ideally in a leadership role, along with:extensive experience in a union or non-profit environment; Longstanding commitment to social justice and workers’ rights; Excellent writing and editing skills; Strategic communicationsexpertise; Strong mediacontacts andability to pitch stories; Experience in the trade union movement; Op-ed andexperience; Ability to work independently; Familiarity with Action Network, WordPress,Adobe Suite / InDesign, and graphic design tools; Ability to manage competing priorities; anda driver’s license and access to a vehicle.French language skills and graphic design abilities are an asset.The successful candidate will provide a variety of functions, including:1. and speechesWrite, edit, and coordinate all internal/external communications (e-blasts, newsletters, posters, web content)Media RelationsDraft advisories, releases, op-eds, and blog postsPrepare officers for interviews and develop message boxesProvide media trainingMaintain relationships with journalists and editorsPublic Relations & DigitalOversee online, print, and broadcast advertisingManage polling and focus groupsOversee website and campaign site developmentLead social media strategy and manage accountsProvide social media trainingPhotography, Video & DesignMaintain OFL photo/video archivesCoordinate photography, videography, editing, and sharingManage commissioned illustration and design workOversee external communications vendors3.
