The Drumheller Dragons Jr. A Hockey Club of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) is seeking a dedicated and qualified individual for the dual role of Certified AthleticTherapistandEquipmentManager . Weareacommunity-driven,non-profit privatecompanyfocusedondevelopingathletesthroughteamwork,commitment,and discipline.
Position Overview
ReportingtotheHeadCoachandGeneralManager, the successful candidate will oversee the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of player injuries while managing all team equipment and dressing room operations.
Key Responsibilities
Athletic Therapy:
- InjuryManagement: Provideassessment,emergencycare,andrehabilitation for all players; develop and execute specific "return to play" plans.
- Medical Coordination: Liaise with physicians, dentists, and other medical personnel;maintaindetailedmedicalrecordsandcoordinateinsuranceclaims.
- TeamCoverage: Providemedicalcoverageforallpracticesessionsandgames (home and away), including travel with the team.
- EmergencyPlanning: DevelopandmaintainanEmergencyActionPlan(EAP) for the team.
Equipment Management:
- Inventory&Maintenance;: Managetheinventory,distribution,andrepairofall team equipment and medical supplies.
- TechnicalDuties: Performdailyskatesharpening,equipmentmodifications,and laundry.
- Operations: Maintainthetidinessofthetrainingroomanddressingrooms; oversee game-day interns and assist with visiting team needs.
Qualifications
- CertifiedAthleticTherapist (CATAmemberingood standing).
- Bachelor’sDegreeinarelatedfield(e.g., Kinesiology).
- Previousexperienceinacompetitivehockeyenvironmentisconsidereda significant asset.
- Strongorganizationalandcommunicationskills,withtheabilitytowork independently in a rapid-paced setting.
