About the job Bilingual z/OS System ProgrammerContract DetailsType: ContractDuration: 12 months to start plus possible multiple extensions or transition to a permanent roleRate: $110 - $130/hr + C2C depending on overall experienceLanguage Requirements: English and FrenchLocation: Remote, CanadaJob SummaryThe z/OS Systems Programmer role requires the resource to provide services in a customer, multi‐vendor, multi‐protocol complex network/systems environment. The primary point of contact for z/OS operating‐system questions and support, engaging in identifying and resolving complex issues related to product/service installation, update, configuration, operations, and performance.ResponsibilitiesInteract with customers, vendors, and management to ensure high customer satisfaction.Serve as the primary contact for z/OS operating‐system Q&A.Identify and resolve complex problems related to installation, update, configuration, operations, and performance.Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Mainframe z/OS and related ISVs.Determine and resolve problems; participate in disaster‐recovery tests and on‐call rotation.Install, customize, test, and implement ISV software; configure user exits and system modifications; understand assembler language.Provide technical guidance, lead professional work teams, conduct special projects, and manage departmental activities.Participate in functional program planning and contribute to business measurements,
customer satisfaction, and project cost impact.Technical SkillsSMP/E and system utilities (SMP/E, ACF2, IO Gen, TSO, ISPF)Installation and support of Mainframe z/OS; reworking and applying user mods and testing softwareAdvanced JES2 and JES3 skillsSupport of 120 types of ISVs and 130 logical partitions (Lpars)Understanding of sysplex concepts and CPU key management (ordering, applying)Experience working with vendors (IBM and others) for product questions and support of multiple accountsSystem utilities: DFDSS, IDCAMS, IEBGENER; extensive DFSMS knowledgeProblem & change management (eESM experience is an asset)QualificationsBilingual – written and spoken French and English.Experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer, including installation, maintenance, and support of mainframe operating systems.Proficiency in system utilities, user exits, system modifications, and assembler language.Ability to work weekends and outside of normal business hours in a rapid‐paced, dynamic, and stressful environment.Strong communication, negotiation, and problem‐solving skills; ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders.Experience with environmental management and program products (where applicable).Additional SkillsAdaptation to standard client change‐management processes.Experience working in a virtual team environment; communicating with peers across the country. #J-18808-Ljbffr
