We are seeking a dedicated Building Code Consultant (Engineer/Technologist) to review projects for compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards. In this agile role, you will review construction plans, conduct field reviews, and provide expert guidance to architects, contractors, developers and project managers. Your expertise will help streamline building processes, uphold quality standards, and promote safe, compliant structures.

Responsibilities
Review and interpret building and fire code and referenced standards
Review building drawings and various stages of design and communicate key items to the client verbally and in writing
Prepare/develop alternative solutions and engineering judgements
Prepare Code Reports and Code Compliance Drawings
Prepare documents for proposals and create budget estimates
Coordinate and complete building permit documents for submission to local governments
Conduct field reviews at various project stages to verify adherence to approved plans and safety standards
Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors,
and inspectors and plan reviewers to resolve code-related issues promptly and effectively
Document field review findings, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions when necessary
Skills and Experience
Degree or Diploma in applied science or engineering technology
Experience with reviewing plans and engineering documents.
Excellent written communication skills
Knowledge of permit process including permit submissions, certified skilled program and inspections.
Knowledge of Parts 3 and 9 of the BC Building Code and National Building Code as well as Parts 3, 9 and 11 of the Vancouver Building Bylaw.
Knowledge of other referenced standards such as NFPA 13, 96 and 101.
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders
Previous experience as a code consultant, sprinkler designer, Architect or technologist is considered an asset.
Experience with Sketch Up or other similar software is considered an asset
Pay: $65,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
