AHS is seeking a skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the pharmacy team at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. You will work to full scope of practice and support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care in all areas of medication distribution.Responsibilities include coordinating and performing sterile & non-sterile compounding, final checks of medications, inventory, and procurement activities. You will check and dispense patient-specific medication orders prepared by Pharmacy Assistants and other Technicians, prepare and check repackaged medications, and complete Patient BPMH in a clinical setting. The role also involves mentoring Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians, training recent staff, and precepting students while collaborating closely with pharmacists and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.You will adhere to NAPRA and ACP standards, oversee delegated tasks, and contribute to operational activities and quality improvement initiatives. Strong verbal and written English communication skills, professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail are essential. Physical demands include standing, walking, keyboarding, lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and kneeling. The role includes handling hazardous medications using appropriate PPE.The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates reliability, critical thinking, adaptability, and a commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and teamwork. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, follow established procedures, and adapt to changing workflows and technology.In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Pharmacy Technician I,

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program.Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.





Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience with Willow Pharmacy (Connect Care), Oracle, Pyxis or Omnicell systems, and automated packaging equipment is also required.Physical demands of the role include regular lifting of up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs., as well as frequent pushing and pulling, and standing or sitting for extended periods.This site requires availability for day, evening, and weekend shifts as well as on-call.

Preferred Qualifications:

Membership in a Pharmacy Technician association (e.g., PTSA, CAPT, CSHP) is preferred.Applicants should have recent experience—a minimum of 1 year experience within the past 2 years—as a pharmacy technician in a hospital setting, including sterile and nonsterile compounding, inventory procurement, and completing Best Possible Medication Histories (BPMH).
