Our client, a Tier 1 automotive manufacturer located in Windsor, Ontario is currently seeking a Tool and Die Maker.
The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for carrying out tooling inspections, repairs, maintenance and modifications of machinery and equipment.
Major Responsibilities
Contributing to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications of tools, dies, prototypes or models.
Builds, services, maintains, repairs, installs and tests recent or existing equipment or tooling, and verifies conformance to specifications.
Troubleshooting of process problems and completes quality improvements as required to maintain part standards of quality.
Inspecting, maintaining, repairing and modifying machinery, equipment, process and facilities as assigned.
Test tools, dies, jigs or fixtures for proper operation.
Fit and assemble or disassemble parts using hand tools
Machine, fit and assemble casting and other parts to make precision models of required shape such as metal patterns, core boxes and match plates.
Complete preventative maintenance on equipment and keep maintenance records
Assist in developing and/or updating preventive maintenance procedures
Communicate information throughout shift and at shift exchange.
Carries out preventative maintenance procedures as laid out by the manufacturer’s specifications.
Continuous Improvement Development.
Perform other duties as designated.
Education & Certification
Tool and Die Certificate of Qualification (430A)
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Tool Maker Journeyman.
Skills and Competencies
Able to be versatile in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements
(scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)
Shift:
Rotating every 2 weeks between days and afternoons.
Overtime after 40 hours per week.
