The Smurfit Westrock Ajax packaging facility, where this position is based, is one of the largest employers in Ajax and Durham Region. We provide innovative packaging solutions to the beverage market and serve name brand customers such as Coca Cola, Pepsi, Anheuser Bush, Labatts and Molson to name a few.
The Ajax facility is currently recruiting for an Industrial Electrician to join our maintenance team.

Must be able to work all 12 hour rotating shifts:
* Days: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
* Nights: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Shifts rotate every two weeks and include working weekends
Job Duties Successful completion of a certificate of Qualification / Apprenticeship for Industrial / Construction Electrician or other related equivalent
Minimum 3 years experience working in a manufacturing environment
Full understanding of CSA and ESA standards and compliance




Assess problems and make changes to existing electrical systems in order to improve performance
Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions in a fast paced, high pressure environment
Repair or replace defective machinery parts
Experience with general building and systems upkeep
Siemens PLC / Drive familiarity and servo systems
Positive communication skills, both verbally and written
Read and understand blue prints, specifications, and manufacturers manuals
PC knowledge and proficiency with various PLC applications, Microsoft, Cad, CMMS
Robot (ABB) familiarity an asset
Must be able to work independently and be self-directed in a demanding, fast-paced production environment, adjusting to changing priorities & roles as required
Ability balancing a variable workload
Flexibility to work weekends to meet business needs.
Daily use of electrical and mechanical skills to support 24hr / day production equipment
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to maintain exceptional attendance.
What you need to work at Smurfit Westrock High school diploma
Industrial Journeyman Electrician License 442A
Analytical and troubleshooting skills - PLC’s / relevant software knowledge
AC/DC drives, servo’s
Physically fit




Able to work 12 hour continental shifts
