Our Client:
Our client is a growing, Canadian-based financial services organization operating within a specialized segment of the insurance and retirement solutions space. Backed by a global platform, the company combines the agility of a small, high-performing team with the scale and resources of a larger institution.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, the Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting the organization’s finance function across financial reporting, cash management, and day-to-day accounting activities.
This is a hands‑on, team‑oriented role designed for an early‑career professional looking to build a strong foundation in financial reporting and analysis within a dynamic and collaborative environment. The mandate offers broad exposure across the company’s operations, including interaction with actuarial, investments, risk, and compliance teams.
The role is positioned as a supporting analyst seat, with a focus on learning, development, and progressively taking on greater responsibility over time.
Key Responsibilities:
Support monthly and quarterly close processes, including preparation of management reporting, financial statements, and regulatory filings
Assist in the preparation of IFRS financial statements, regulatory returns, and financial analyses for senior management and board‑level reporting
Produce financial analyses and reports for internal stakeholders, including senior leadership and the parent organization
Support audit processes by liaising with internal and external auditors, including assistance with SOX compliance requirements
Work closely with the broader finance team to support consolidation reporting and ad hoc financial analysis
Assist with core accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, subledger maintenance, and accruals
Partner with investment teams and external managers to support funding, settlement, and related activities
Assist with liquidity management and treasury activities, including cash reporting, forecasting, and monitoring balances
Support weekly disbursement processes, including electronic payments, wires, and cheque runs
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, controls, and efficiencies
Assist with business planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities
Support tax compliance, forecasting, and planning initiatives
Assist in analyzing technical accounting matters and regulatory developments
The Ideal Candidate:
1–2+ years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or related roles
Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset, but not required
Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt in a energetic, fast‑paced environment
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a practical and solutions‑oriented mindset
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a small, collaborative team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
High level of motivation, work ethic, and willingness to take initiative
Comfortable working in a hands‑on environment with evolving processes and responsibilities
