Job Title: Senior Embedded Engineer
Location: Montréal, Québec (Hybrid 3 Days onsite)
Duration: Contract 6 Months to Hire
Job Description: Senior Embedded Engineer with strong expertise in camera driver development, embedded imaging systems, and cross-platform SDK integration to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience developing low‑level software for Linux, Android, and Windows environments, working with camera and IMU sensors, and contributing to advanced imaging and embedded system architectures.
In this role, you will lead the development and enhancement of camera solutions across multiple embedded platforms, including Qualcomm and NVIDIA, while supporting SDK integration, AI‑powered imaging applications, automated testing frameworks, and next‑generation cloud‑enabled architectures.
This position offers flexible engagement options, including full‑time contract opportunities (40 hours/week). Remote work is available; however, preference will be given to candidates located in Montréal, Québec, with other Canadian locations also considered.
Key Responsibilities Design, develop, port, and maintain low‑level camera drivers supporting MIPI CSI‑2, I2C, SPI, EEPROM, autofocus motors, and LED flash modules.
Perform camera hardware bring‑up, integration, and debugging on embedded platforms such as Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Intel, and similar architectures.
Develop and troubleshoot Linux and Windows shared libraries, SDKs, and driver interface layers.
Integrate computer vision algorithms, AI/ML models, and real‑time video processing pipelines into embedded systems.
Support software development across Linux, Android, RTOS, and Windows environments.
Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, AI, and software teams to ensure successful product delivery.
Develop and optimize imaging pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
Contribute to software architecture, code reviews, CI/CD processes,



and technical documentation.
Utilize modern development practices with Git, CMake, automated testing frameworks, and CI pipelines.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in embedded software development, camera systems, imaging pipelines, or device driver development.
Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
Deep understanding of camera architectures, image processing pipelines, and embedded Linux systems.
Experience with up-to-date C++ (C++17/C++20), object‑oriented design principles, templates, design patterns, and performance optimization.
Hands‑on experience with: Linux Device Tree (DTSI) customization
OpenCV, CUDA, TensorRT, and GStreamer
OpenGL shaders and image/video processing techniques
Image compression, noise reduction, and optimization techniques
PyTorch, ONNX conversion, and AI model quantization
Android Studio, ADB, UVC, and embedded Android development
Qualcomm VRT SDK and camera frameworks

Experience developing low‑level camera and IMU drivers for Linux, Android, and Windows platforms.
Proficiency with Git, CMake, Buildroot, and embedded software build environments.
Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with Qualcomm Camera Frameworks, including Camera HAL, CHI, and CamX.
Hands‑on development experience with NVIDIA Jetson / AGX Orin platforms and AI deployment workflows.
Experience designing or supporting SaaS‑based architectures, cloud‑native applications, and containerized environments.
Knowledge of Python asynchronous programming and high‑performance systems development.
Experience building automated testing frameworks using Python, SikuliX, Google Test, or similar tools.
Familiarity with Docker, gRPC, cloud deployment, and distributed systems
Experience with C# development for UI applications, diagnostic tools, or supporting utilities.
