Help Strengthen the Organization Supporting Canada's Military Families
The Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the well-being of military members, veterans, and their families. Through a wide range of family support programs and services, we help military families navigate the unique challenges of military life while supporting the operational readiness of the Canadian Armed Forces.

We're seeking an experienced, collaborative, and people-focused Operations Manager to join our leadership team.

About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Operations Manager provides leadership for the organization's human resources, financial administration, and operational systems. This role works closely with supervisors, staff, external partners, and the Board to ensure effective operations, sound financial stewardship, legislative compliance, and a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

Lead human resources administration, including recruitment, employee relations, policy development, and HR compliance.

Oversee financial administration, budgeting, reporting, audits, and funding accountability.

Support organizational planning, operational improvement, and Board reporting.

Support supervisors while promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Ensure compliance with organizational policies, funding agreements, and applicable legislation.

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.





Progressive leadership experience in human resources, operations, finance, or organizational administration.

Knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practices, and financial management.

Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and relationship-building skills.

A cooperative leadership style and commitment to continuous improvement.

Experience in the non-profit, public, or military sector is considered an asset.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary of $70,000–$75,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

Conditions of Employment

Ability to work onsite at both Halifax and Shearwater locations (primarily Halifax).

Occasional evening and weekend work.

Valid Nova Scotia driver's licence.

Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Enhanced Reliability Clearance.
