The purpose of this position is to repair defects in Brewster Equipment, to keep the fleet in as good mechanical condition as possible, to complete semi‑annual inspections, and to remove, overhaul, rebuild and replace components of the buses at set mileages or time intervals to avoid failure on the road. The position of HD Mechanic reports to the Shop Foreman, or Maintenance Manager, and may have to work in co‑operation with the dispatcher and the drivers.

Role & Responsibilities

Safety 1st! Ensure to follow adequate and proper safety procedures when performing any duties

Perform preventative maintenance

Diagnose equipment problems and determine repairs as needed

Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts

Test repaired equipment for proper performance

Service attachments and working tools

Maintain a clean and tidy work area and assist with cleaning duties in working environment

Maintain daily record of all works orders, part orders and other administrative tasks

Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease downtime and improve processes

Assist in training apprentice mechanics in the trade

Support colleagues and co‑workers in their duties

Act as a coach and subject matter expert when it comes to everything vehicles

The senior mechanic on duty at the garage acts as management relief to the Shop Foreman or Maintenance Manager

Required Skills & Qualifications

Ability to set up and adjust automatic transmissions.

Fully capable of troubleshooting bus electrical system.

Expertise in welding with experience to repair all bus framing.

Able to handle all glass work.

Valid Alberta (or inter‑provincial) Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman certification

CVIP license for Alberta





At least one years’ bus experience and are fully capable troubleshooting bus problems

Experience troubleshooting and diagnostics on Detroit Diesel, CAT, Cummins, MTU and Allison engines/transmissions

Familiar with MCI & Prevost highway coaches

Class 1, 2 or 3 driver’s licenses with airbrake (Q) endorsement an asset

Ability to supply own tools up to ¾” and impact drives

Ability to think outside the box with a positive attitude, and problem‑solving skills

Mature, energetic, dependable, and self‑motivated

Enjoy working with a team in a busy, quick‑paced environment

Must enjoy working outdoors, even in challenging mountain weather conditions

Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods in an indoor/outdoor environment. Be prepared for all types of weather (Snow, Rain, Wind, Hail) at all times. The weather changes quickly in the park.

Must adhere to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy

Must meet the Organization grooming and appearance standards

Standard First‑Aid or higher is an asset
