Are you an strategic leader, passionate about nurturing vibrant, sustainable green spaces across Edmonton? Reporting to the Manager of Parkland Stewardship, the Park Stewardship Program Liaison drives the strategy, design, and implementation of community-centered park stewardship initiatives. In this role, you will lead a dedicated team to deliver impactful programs—ranging from community gardens, dog off-leash areas and commemorative benches to education and outreach about invasive plants and citizen driven park care programs. You will establish key performance indicators, streamline operational processes, and leverage data-driven analytics to continuously evaluate and refine program success. Acting as a key bridge, you will navigate complex public discussions, collaborate with cross-functional City teams, and build robust relationships with community groups, non-profits, and external partners. By guiding strategic initiatives aligned with The City Plan, you will foster inclusive public spaces while modeling the City’s commitment to being Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated, and Excellent.
What will you do?
Lead the strategic planning, administration, and continuous improvement of Park Stewardship programs across the city
Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to team members and people leaders, assisting with recruitment, performance evaluations, and team development
Establish data-driven systems, analytics, and key performance indicators to monitor, evaluate, and report on program performance and outcomes
Manage collective program operational budgets, ensuring effective allocation and adherence to financial plans
Build and sustain positive working relationships with internal teams, local non-profits, community leagues, Business Improvement Areas (BIAs), utility partners, and academic institutions
Facilitate community engagement strategies, respond to complex or sensitive inquiries,
and resolve escalated issues with tact and diplomacy
Execute strategic phases for standalone infrastructure projects (such as establishing or decommissioning dog off-leash areas) and conduct assessments for externally funded projects
Develop and maintain safety protocols, ensuring all activities comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S;) legislation and City policies
Qualifications
University graduation in Recreation Administration or a related undergraduate degree
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in community recreation, including demonstrated competency in program development, organizational development, and information/referral services
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent)
Current Standard First Aid certification with CPR-C
Assets
Experience working alongside land developers, urban planners, landscape architects, or project management teams
Background in facility administration, operations, or municipal infrastructure projects
Familiarity with software systems such as Google Workspace applications, PeopleSoft, and POSSE

Strong business acumen and political awareness to effectively respond to leadership, Council inquiries, and complex public feedback
Proven leadership and coaching abilities to mentor team leaders, direct staff operations, and foster a positive workplace culture
Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and relationship-building skills to navigate differing community perspectives
Strong project management abilities with a track record of evaluating business cases and prioritizing competing deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write formal reports, present publicly, and facilitate engagement sessions

Conditions of Employment
Obtain and maintain a clear Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to starting the position
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent) with business auto insurance coverage for personal vehicle use on City business
Work Environment
A combination of indoor office work and seasonal outdoor duties in varying weather conditions
Working within public park environments, including active off-leash dog areas
Occasional physical effort such as standing, walking, climbing stairs, and light lifting (up to 20 lbs)
Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) during site visits, including safety footwear, eye protection, and gloves
